PREAMBLE
Business Mentoring Luxembourg, created in 2009 within the Chamber of Commerce, became an association in 2019 with the vocation of developing several support programs for Luxembourg business leaders.
Business Mentoring Luxembourg asbl, referred to here as BML asbl, is still supported by the Chambre de Commerce and the Chambre des Métiers.
In addition to its role as program coordinator, BML asbl guarantees the methodology and compliance with program rules.
As part of a policy of facilitating access to experts for SMEs in order to maximize their chances of long-term success, the programs consist of support for a company director (Mentee) by an experienced business leader (Mentor), over a period of 3, 6, 12 or even 18 months, as defined by the program itself.
The term “Mentor” refers to the owner-manager of a company, as well as to the experienced manager, each of whom acts on a voluntary basis.
Coaching will focus on one of the 3 key stages in the life of a business: start-up, development and transfer.
Mentoring program means :
- Dyade: whose aim is to facilitate company growth by developing the entrepreneur’s skills.
Support is free of charge, provided you are up to date with your association membership, and generally includes :
- contact with experienced business leaders (Mentors) with a minimum of 10 to 15 years’ experience in running a business ;
- monthly meetings between mentor and mentee;
- support of the mentee by the mentor through his or her experience, with a view to contributing to the development of the mentee’s entrepreneurial personality and company.
Charter of Good Conduct
Respect
Business Mentoring Luxembourg asbl is committed to ensuring that all members of the association, whether Mentors, Mentees or supporters, are treated with fairness, loyalty and dignity,
Any member who feels that he or she has been the victim of, or witnessed, a situation involving non-compliance with these values may immediately inform the association’s Ethics Committee.
Each member of the association must make appropriate use of any association property entrusted to him or her.
Commitment
Like all managers who have a legal obligation to ensure the success of their company, the Mentee must show commitment, drive and dynamism in order to provide the means for success.
It is the Mentee’s responsibility to manage the pace of the dyad’s work.
At the same time, the Mentor will have undertaken to share with the Mentee, in all benevolence, everything he has observed and everything that could hinder the Mentee’s success.
The Mentor will contribute to the development of BML asbl by participating at least twice a year in the Selection Committees of both Mentors and Mentees.
Both the Mentor and the Mentee undertake to pay the annual membership fee to the association upon receipt of the call for membership fees sent by the Manager of BML asbl.
The membership fee is payable after signature of the agreement.
It will be calculated on a pro rata basis for the remaining months of the current financial year, except for the month of December when the full amount will be requested for the following year.
Privacy
With the exception of the reservations set out in this Charter, Business Mentoring Luxembourg Asbl and the association’s Manager undertake to keep confidential all information gathered in the course of setting up and coordinating mentoring programs, unless there is a legal or professional right or obligation to reveal it.
The Mentor guarantees the confidentiality of the information he/she has acquired in his/her capacity as Mentor and member of the selection committee for Mentor and Mentee candidates, whether directly or indirectly, even after the end of his/her respective obligations arising from his/her involvement in one of the Business Mentoring Luxembourg asbl programs.
Transparency
Assured of the confidentiality of data beyond BML asbl, the Mentee will spontaneously share with the Mentor any element having an influence on the achievement of the objectives for the dyad.
The Mentor and the Mentee expressly authorize the Manager of BML asbl to record the results of the Mentor/Mentee relationship in a computer file for traceability and follow-up purposes.
Each member of Business Mentoring Luxembourg asbl undertakes to report to the Steering Committee (CoPil) any contact or meeting with a party outside BML asbl on a subject that concerns BML asbl or one of its members.
He/she will be accompanied by a member of the CoPil if a follow-up meeting is decided.
Impartiality
The Mentor assumes no personal responsibility in the mentoring relationship and cannot be held liable for decisions made by the Mentee.
The Mentor will not make any decisions relating to the Mentee’s business.
He is encouraged to ask questions rather than give answers, so as not to interfere in the responsibility of the mentee manager.
The Mentee is free to follow or not the Mentor’s recommendations.
The Mentor and the Manager do not offer any guarantee to the Mentee as to the possible results expected by the latter.
Integrity
The Mentoree undertakes to maintain accurate records, books, registers and accounts, which must faithfully reflect the entirety of the company’s assets and liabilities without omission or concealment, in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
The Mentor undertakes to respect the values of financial disinterestedness and transparency governing the program:
- The Mentee, the Mentor or any member of the association will not offer any gift of value with the aim of influencing an act or a decision.
- The Mentor must be transparent about any professional relationship he or she may have with a mentee candidate,

- The Mentor may not agree to accompany a Mentee with whom he is in direct competition.
The Mentor is obliged to terminate the agreement that binds him to the Mentee, as soon as an event occurs that could place him in a situation of conflict of interest or undermine his independence.
Compliance with the law
All relations between the parties (Mentor and Mentee) are subject to Luxembourg law.
The courts of Luxembourg shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising in connection with these terms and conditions.
