Lawrence Schonkert

I would have liked to be a professional footballer, but my high-level sports career was cut short by a broken leg at the age of 19. Which didn’t prevent me from becoming Luxembourg champion several times and being international 18 times. After studying economics and law at the University of Nancy, I joined the Cactus group in the mid-1980s. I have spent my entire professional career in the retail chain, of which I became managing director in 2002.

Elected member of the Chamber of Commerce and former vice-president of the Luxembourg Confederation of Commerce as well as former president of the Fédération des Jeunes Dirigeants, I am also very involved in charitable initiatives, where I hold a position of vice-president of UNICEF Luxembourg.

In my spare time, I enjoy cycling and trout fishing.
